I have been Head Teacher at Newman School for five years. It is a privilege to work with our fantastic pupils, their families and our staff and Governors. I am a member of both Governing Body sub-committees as well as the full Governing Body. Prior to coming to Newman School, I was Deputy Head at Heatherwood School in Doncaster.

Working with the Governing Body, we strategically lead our committed staff and work in true partnership with our families to enable Newman school to improve towards even better outcomes for each of our pupils. Over the past five years, Newman School has doubled in size (pupil numbers) and we now have a successful additional resource for pupils with significant and complex special educational needs (SEN) and social, emotional, mental health needs (SEMH).

I have been a teacher for thirty-six years, working across London before returning to Yorkshire in 2002. My hobbies include swimming, going to the theatre / opera and watching live sport especially major sporting events, cricket and football.

School Improvement Committee  10/11/2014  09/11/2018  n/a  Parents

I became a Governor at Newman School in 5 years ago. As a parent of a child at the School I am passionate about what it can offer to children with Special needs in a secure and nurturing environment.

I worked as a homeless worker for 16 years and now as a volunteer for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service and am a level x qualified sign reader. I am actively involved in a Charity in Africa and am continually raising funds to improve lives through the project.

I feel that my skills and passion for the School enable me to be focused in helping the Governing Body to carry out its remit and add value to the School in improving outcomes for our children.

School Improvement Committee  10/11/2015  09/11/2018 n/a  Governing Body

I became a Governor at Newman in October 2014 having previously worked at the school as Modern Languages and Music Teacher until I retired in July 2014. I sit on the School Improvement Committee and have recently taken on Governor with responsibility for NAR.

I am totally committed to the precept that all children deserve the opportunity to have an education that will stimulate and enrich their lives. As a teacher I was able to be involved in the teaching and learning of the pupils and, although I have now retired, I still want to be part of the process that enables young people to develop into confident, well rounded and responsible adults. In my role as Governor I feel that I can bring experience and huge enthusiasm to support the continuing and future success of Newman School.
