Students in 'moving on' group have been talking about resilience and how to bounce back.
They made a model that bounces back to remind themselves they can cope with bad times.
School will close on Friday 24th May. It will reopen on Monday 3rd June.
(School is also closed Monday 6th May for May Day)
We will soon be running workshops for parents and carers interested in learning how phonics are taught within school. We follow the 'Jolly Phonics' programme, which is designed to help students hear every sound in a word in order to help them read and spell it. The dates for the workshops will be put on the website shortly and a letter will be sent home too. In the meantime, this short video is great for hearing how we teach the different sounds in school. Why not watch it at home with your child and practise together!
We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who helped out at the Christmas fayre and to all those that purchased raffle tickets.
We would also like to say thank you to the following organisations for their generous donations of raffle prizes:
Cannon Hall Farm
Pinx Beauty Salon
Aston Leisure Centre
Yorkshire Wild Life Park
Sheffield International Venues
There is still one unclaimed winning ticket number without a name, so if you have ticket number 3085, please get in touch with the school to claim your prize!
Thank you again and have a Merry Christmas!
KS5.4 have prepared and cooked their own Christmas lunch.
As part of their COPE course, members of class 5.4 have prepared and cooked their own Christmas lunch: Working out timings for turkey, peeling spuds, cutting carrots, roasting pigs in blankets and making stuffing.
'Is Christmas all about maths!?' says Sarah, who was surprised at the amount of working out the timings and cooking took.
5.4 worked really well as a team, after initially being astonished by the amount of work it would take to make lunch. Soon enough pupils were well underway with preparing the food. The timings are tight, however everything should be ready in time.
Good luck KS5.4!
UPDATE: 5.4 have cooked and served their lunch. It looked fantastic. Good job 5.4!
